    Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a dy

At first it seemed like it helped now I feel the same as before I started taking the medicine other than the fact that none of my clothes fit and there is a lot more of me to carry around. Anyone know if I quit taking it if the weight will fall back off I started Hydroxychloroquine 2 weeks ago. One week in and I thought this may just work, except for the ‘extra itchiness’ I seemed to get every night.

The recommended adult dose for rheumatoid arthritis is 400-600 mg daily for 4-12 weeks followed by 200-400 mg daily. Systemic lupus erythematosus is treated with 400 mg once or twice daily for several weeks then 200-400 mg daily. Hydroxychloroquine should be taken with food or milk in order to reduce stomach upset. Diagnosed with Lupus at age 50 after lots of misdiagnosed ailments. First on prednisone and then told steroid was only temp reduce swelling and Plaquenil prescribed and started at 200 mg twice per. Hydroxychloroquine is generally prescribed at a daily dose of 6.5 milligrams or less per kilogram of body weight. Using this formula, the dosage for a 150-pound person would be 443 mg/day, as one kilogram equals 2.2 pounds. Because HCQ is formulated as a 200 mg tablet, many people taking it for lupus will take two pills per day.

I was prescribed this drug to ease my ra disease, I was taking 400mg per day which was to last for 3 months then reduced to 200mg. Right before I hit the two week mark, I woke up with my heart racing and continued feeling my heart flutter all day and I just felt week and tired. After msging Rheum, decided to stop taking meds to see how I feel and continue with the AIP to handle symptoms and try to work at ‘healing from inside out! Time will tell and I’m eager to see how much the AIP is helping once odd meds.

Plaquenil and Sulfa Allergies" Lupus Community - Support Group I can say, however, that I have not had any cross allergic reaction to other drugs sometimes associated with sulfa allergies. Whether you try Plaquenil or not is ultimately up to you and your doctor, but a lot will depend on the type and severity of reactions that you've had. Rashes are certainly a lot less severe than respiratory reactions.
