And it usually doens't cause hair's rare but can happen. And it is upsetting to lose hair - it's a BIG deal to women. Everytime I took a shower it just came out in my hands and ALOT in the drain. The capsules are MUCH easier to swallow than the tablets (they are huge). I'm 39 and have had hair loss from plaquenil...needless to say I'm not taking plaquenil anymore. Happy birthday and happy hair growth I was on Arava for just a couple of months, and suffered alot of hair loss.

If you do continue taking Plaquenil, you'll need to have your eyes checked on a regular basis every 6 months to a year to avoid a rare side effect that can damage your vision. I worked with my doctor and we reduced the levels and now I have been experiencing the benefits of using methotrexate and getting my life back again. We are not a textbook and need to tweak the doses for our body chemistry. I also take folic acid with it to counteract the negative side effects.
