I started metformin on the 3rd october, so far i've experienced half of the side effects (nausea, headaches, extre tiredness, stomach cramps and been going to the toilet every so often) i'm on metformin as to try and help out with my pcos and also to help me and my partner try and conceive we've been trying for nearly a year and nothing so far so i am now on metformin and take folic acid daily too, i was just wondering how long will these side effects last and can you share your success stories with metformin i need all the hope and positivity i can get i'm driving myself round the bend i hate you pcos!!! My husband and I tried for months and were not getting pregnant, they put me on Clomid and I got pregnant that first month. I then miscarried at 15 weeks and after 3 more rounds of Clomid and nothing the sent me to the RE. What I did experience starting the next time I ovulated was SEVERE ovulation pains. They discovered I had PCOS and put me on Metformin. I was already ovulating on my own but my doctor still prescribed 1000mg at night. These pains would happen not once but twice a month. I saw my doctor Wednesday because I woke up with these pains. Within 3 days of taking it I ovulated and got pregnant with my now 15 month old son. The same pains that I had experienced a week and a half ago. she did an ultrasound and said it looks like I ovulated 24-48 hours ago so I was experiencing ovulation pains. My CM and temps clearly show that I ovulated almost 2 weeks ago but nope doc said I probably ovulated Monday. I'm so glad metformin worked to you I know it's different for every woman but I'm praying and praying that it helps me we are desperate and my mind is going crazy all we want is a Bfp, side effects are wearing of a bit but I'm only 500mg atm and upping my dosage to 1000mg next week then the week after to 1500mg if my body can handle that I'm so hoping it works Thankyou for the positivity hope to stay in touch! I'm sorry to here that but I simply asked for success stories so I could put my mind at rest instead of stressing constantly and being upset yes I understand that metformin works differently for each and every woman but that's not made me feel any better as to what I wanted to hear, I've heard the lot before i wanted to be in a balanced mind of knowing that it could possibly work but then it possibly couldn't work but yeah thanks for putting a damper on my post that was supposed to be about success stories. When we decided to start trying for #2 I started metformin thinking it would take a while since our son took 14 months but nope, 5 days after starting the metformin I ovulated and got pregnant again. Metformin completely messed up my cycle and ovulation. The second trimester starts in week 14 of pregnancy and lasts through the end of week 27. I used to have 29-30 day cycles but my last cycle was 35 days and this one will probably be 37or 38 since I ovulated 9 days later than I thought. Find out what to expect in the second trimester of pregnancy when it comes to your baby's development and pregnancy symptoms you might experience. fluconazole while breastfeeding Please share any success stories you may have with Metformin. Now I'm in my TWW (8DPO) and just praying and hoping no spotting happens! It's made a big difference for me as it was such a huge relief to see that I did ovulate. Doctor said she'll recheck me after 3 months to see if I need more meds. I finished my 3rd cycle on Metformin and still no BFP, so I am going back to the OBGYN this week to see what our next steps are. Going to ask for a progesterone test to see if that is the culprit. I highly recommend it, although if you're already seeing an RE they may have other methods to confirm you're ovulating where you don't have to spend $$ for a monitor. I was so scared it would hurt when my husband administered it, but I didn't feel a thing. I started it in March and at first I thought it was getting my cycles on track, but now I'm on cycle day 32 and my 5th day of spotting and still no period :( see chart below to get a better idea. Also started a B vitamin and raspberry leaf tea both his cycle so not sure if those helped regulate my cycle also.. Now I'm 8DPO and just hoping I don't start spotting as I have in my previous cycles. I did have minimal nausea the first week, but that's pretty much it. I haven't had a period since I had one induced with medication back in March, but once it returns I will consider tracking my ovulation. My cycle last month was a nice normal length (27 days) with Ovulation on CD13, but I had spotting pretty much the entire week leading up to AF. I now have a little bruise at the injection site and some ab cramping. Will definitely have to try it.metformin 500mg was what I was on when I got my bfp for my son. the key to remember is that it depends on you to work. Just feeling really disappointed as I thought this would be the answer and I feel like maybe it hasn't helped at all.is our 5th cycle TTC#1 but off BC much longer and OBGYN said if Metformin doesn't help within 3 months of starting use then to come back in for more tests. Also started taking a super b complex vitamin and drinking raspberry leaf tea this cycle as I heard both can help regulate your cycle and hormones. So we'll see in two weeks if I get my period or not. with my son I switched to water and thats what helped it to work. Hi, sorry to hear your cycles haven't been improving with the metformin. It was recommended that we have intercourse daily at this point of egg release. I plan on doing that again Wednesday when I restart (took a break). With my first child, we tried for 12 months, I then started metformin and conceived that same month. I began taking Metformin in November while I was still on BC for my weight (it didnt help with weightloss for me). My period eventually came and I started tracking Ovulation with a fertility monitor this cycle. And on cycle day 13 which I feel like is so "normal" and maybe means mind cycles are finally regulating? I finally did get my period and started tracking Ovulation for this cycle with a fertility monitor. I'm on 500 mg twice a day, started at once per day. Really hoping it confirms Ovulation again this cycle... It really worked well for me and confirmed that I ovulated this past cycle (the first cycle I ever used it). Hi Everyone, I was just put on Metformin to hopefully regulate my period and ovulation and get pregnant. They just diagnosed me with PCOS, but said I'm not the normal 90% of women that get PCOS. I was just wondering if there is anyone out there that is like me and has experienced success with Metformin and getting pregnant? I d like to share a very positive experience with Metformin. I was diagnosed with PCOS after very irregular periods and anovulatory cycles. I already worked out regularly and was a healthy weight. My husband and I tried for a very long time to conceive and were starting to lose hope. I found it without Rx (my friend share with me this code * METF4PREG *, you can Google it.) Metformin is an insulin-sensitizing drug primarily used to treat diabetes, but it can also be used for fertility. Women with PCOS may benefit from taking metformin alone, along with Clomid, or even during IVF treatment. Exactly how metformin improves fertility is unclear. While metformin may be used for the treatment of infertility, it is not a fertility drug. In fact, using it to treat infertility is considered an off-label use. (In other words, pregnancy achievement is not the original intended purpose of this drug.) What is this medication? To understand what metformin does, you first need to know what insulin resistance is. Insulin resistance is when the body's cells stop reacting to normal levels of insulin. As a result, the body thinks that there is not enough insulin in the system. This triggers the production of more insulin than your body needs.
